It isn’t often that we are blessed with a silhouette that not only transcends the seasons but encapsulates a wearability that allows us to reinvent our wardrobe investment. Now is the perfect time to invest in a dress that will see you through to the end of the cooler months with plenty of wear in-between!
SS10 saw the dress evolve around the female form, sitting at the natural waistline and with added volume.This,naturally, flowed right through to the AW10 collections, but with more ‘va va voom’! Grabbing something similar now means you are able to wear it through the rest of this delicious summer we seem to be having, and you can then bulk up for the darker days. I found this deep red Bottega Veneta beauty (which happens to be on sale right now), as well as this charcoal grey Beyond Vintage sleeveless dress which has beautiful lace detailing across the bust and a flattering gathered waist.
With their light natural fabrics,both dresses will work perfectly throughout the summer styled with casual flats and as much gold jewellery as you feel like. When the wind changes you will be able to wear them with stockings or opaque’s and then throw a chunky Aran style knit over the top which you can carefully cinch in at the waist with a skinny leather belt. If you want to capture the more exaggerated silhouette from AW10, then simply add an underskirt for extra volume, just be sure to keep it above the hemline – this isn’t prom season- and you will have yourself in cosy, wintery perfection by the end of the season.
