2009 has just a few days left before it is gone and forgotten and so will the trends that came along with it. From trends that made a transition from the 80′s to trends that made a very brief appearance to trends that might make it into another year, lets take a look back and see which ones we loved and those that, when we see our 2009 Facebook pictures, will bring horror to our faces. Here we go:-
- A lace affair to remember (above pic)- This year was about placing emphasis on the legs using intricately patterned hosiery. Loved it or hated it?
The Tie-dye jeans- This is another trend that pushed denim to a whole new level this year. Was not quite as common as the other trends so rocking this look showed that you were a real fashionista in the know. However, if you didn’t rock this look, would you like to see it make a comeback?
The 2nd skin leggings- Even at scorching hot temperatures, we practically lived in our skin tight leggings this year, be it leather or sheer satin, it made you look so 2009. I love this look but i don’t know if others will agree with me. Could it last the distance or would it simply burn out?
Denim Jackets over Maxi dresses – The maxi dress should qualify as a basic staple as it always returns year after year. In the summer of 2009, we updated the maxi dress with floral prints and then added a casual touch with the denim jacket. Most times a faded one showed just how trendy you really were. So will this trend survive another year or would we update the maxi dress with perhaps fringed leather cropped jackets next year as seen on the catwalk for spring 2010?
Ripped Black Jeans: It was the year for the Punk look so why not do it with distressed denims? Black seemed to have been the favourite colour for this trend and i loved that it was only shredded at the knees for effect. Will this trend return? I really hope so.
To be continued…..
